Tomorrow morning I hop on a boat and sail to America. Sounds exotic/adventurous/18th century. It isn’t, really. But I can’t help but be excited. The Canadian dollar is worth more than the American dollar – which has never happened in all the years I’ve been going down there. There were even years that I would have to mentally double the price of everything I looked at because after the banks took their cut, that was a pretty accurate estimation of the cost.
But now…now - let the games begin. You would think that I might be excited about buying some cool electronic gizmo, or some fashionable shoes, or some only in america clothing with my powerful Canadian bucks. But you would be wrong. What I lust after is the magazines. Yes, I am a magazine junkie, and the US cover price on magazines is always at least a couple dollars less than the Canadian price. Couple that with the strong dollar and what you have, my friends, is magazines that might as well be FREE!
Woohoo. Elliott Bay Books, here I come.
Here’s a sample of what I’ll be picking up:
(but, yeah, I’ll be hitting Anthropologie, too.)
